The legal officials in Utah recently signed a new bill legalizing the prescription and use of cannabis based CBD oil. This comes to a surprise to many who know the state for being quite conservitive in regards to marijuana reform. While this new law is a step in the right direction only neurologists can legally write said prescriptions and the state is charging a $400 fee for the production of these extracts as current law does not allow cannabis products to be transferred a crossed state lines at this time.
The new law has been publicly recognized as Charlee’s Law, named after the child who passed away while waiting on a list of over 2000 other patients in need of treatment. It would seem this law passed for its inclusion of regulations that help ensure the safe production of the drug as many attempts before it often lacked such restrictions that lawmakers fear would lead to all out legalization.
