Although he has done research into child neurology, Hasson is not a qualified neurologist. However, the GMC investigation concluded last month that he “provided adequate care to the families who consulted him, with evidence of benefit, and no evidence of harm”. He has continued to prescribe the medical cannabis.
The BPNA does not support the use of whole plant medicinal cannabis, which contains the psychoactive ingredient THC. It has also published guidance stating that only neurologists should be allowed to prescribe cannabinoids containing CBD.
