Clinical trials currently being conducted in Georgia to study the effects of CBD oil in patients suffering from epilepsy. There have already been some positive results suggesting that it could be quite effective as a treatment for various epileptic diseases. The study created by the states medical cannabis commission aims to determine whether or not Georgia lawmakers should expand the current law to allow growers to harvest and distribute their medication within the state.

Patients in the trial suffering from a severe epileptic disease known as dravet syndrome have shown a 60% improvement after being administered the cannabis-based drug for 12 weeks. While this trial has made strides in the research of medicinal cannabis the current law has only legalized possession of the medication and currently does not allow its production or distribution within the state. It will likely be another year or more before legislation will enable consumers wider access to the medication they need.
