Florida’s medical marijuana industry has kept up its growth during the past year.

As of April 2, the state has a total of 521,450 qualified patients and 327 approved dispensing locations, according to the state’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use. That is up 57% from 331,365 patients and up 39.7% from 234 approved dispensaries a year ago.

Voters first approved medical marijuana legalization in the state in 2016, and the industry at large has continued to grow since then. Besides dispensaries and the required agricultural space to grow, there are also associated services connected to the industry expanding here.

For example, California-based cannabis product testing company CannaSafe announced in May 2020 plans for a roughly 15,000-square-foot lab in leased space at 805 W. Central Blvd. in Orlando.
