The lawmakers in Kentucky have had in place a bill for some time now that allowed farmers to plant and harvest the cannabis plant for research, these plants have all been non-intoxicating with no real value. Until now, as Kentucky governor signs a bill allowing marijuana crops high in both CBD and THC to not only be used in medicinal research but allows several clinics to prescribe the drug to patients.

Supporters of the bill note that cannabidiol has been particularly effective in treating seizures in children. That’s one of the main reasons state Sen. Julie Denton, R-Louisville, sponsored the bill. Denton has a daughter who once suffered from epilepsy.

While this is a good step in the right direction the Governor like many today have a problem understanding marijuana due to their own biases. He believes that this bill will prevent law enforcement issues while helping the families of those who need this medication. That would help if the drug could be legally obtained in the state, it would also help if there were more than two university facilities within the entire state that could prescribe it.
