Gov. Bill Haslam has just signed into law a bill that legalized the possession of cbd cannabis oil extract for medicinal use in patients suffering from epilepsy. The news however is bitter sweet as Tennessee becomes yet another state to legalize the use of these drugs while allowing the manufacture and distribution of the medication
Gov. Bill Haslam has just signed into law a bill that legalized the possession of cbd cannabis oil extract for medicinal use in patients suffering from epilepsy. The news however is bitter sweet as Tennessee becomes yet another state to legalize the use of these drugs while allowing the manufacture and distribution of the medication to remain illegal. Currently federal law prevents the medication from being moved over states lines.
This means that while it is legal to use cbd extracts with a recommendation from a local Doctor there is no legal recourse for obtaining said medication. Patients are forced to either illegally transport the product over state lines risking prosecution or turn toward the black market which has no regulation regarding the strength or safety of the product. While it is amazing to see so many states slowly open up to the use of marijuana for medical purposes allowing it to remain illegal to produce only complicates things and puts good people in a dangerous legal situation.
