Texas has recently legalized the use of marijuana oil extracts for the treatment of Dravet syndrome, however this may not be the victory everyone was hoping for.
Critics of the new law claim that restrictions on the strength of these oils will prevent Doctors from providing patents with proper dosages as each patient would likely have a different dosage requirement. There are also claims that because Doctors are required to prescribe this treatment rather than recommend it patients are required to pay more for their mediciation than they may have otherwise.
The governor had this to say
I remain convinced that Texas should not legalize marijuana nor should Texas open the door for conventional marijuana to be used for medical or medicinal purposes. as governor I will not allow it.
So while the lawmakers in Texas believe this is progress it appears to many that this may actually be a step in the wrong direction and will only hurt patients in need of proper medication.
