A new advocacy group, CannCare, has been established in the UK to protect medical cannabis patients from discrimination. Despite medicinal cannabis being legal for over six years, patients prescribed cannabis-based products for medicinal use (CBPM) often face stigma and harassment due to misinformation about its legality. CannCare aims to address these issues through legal advocacy, media campaigns, and proactive support for affected individuals.

The group recently intervened in a case involving a West Sussex patient threatened with eviction for using prescribed cannabis. While smoking prescription cannabis at home is illegal, vaporizing or consuming it in other forms is permitted. CannCare’s CEO, Calum Jones, envisions a future where patients can use their medication without fear of persecution.

CannCare operates as a non-profit and plans outreach initiatives to build a supportive community. Learn more at Hemp Gazette.
