A new study suggests hemp seed oil could become a natural, cost-effective alternative for wound care, outperforming conventional antibiotic ointments. Researchers from Universitas Syiah Kuala in Indonesia found that wounds in mice treated with hemp seed oil healed significantly faster than those treated with chloramphenicol, a standard antibiotic ointment, or left untreated.
The 21-day study, published in the journal Narra J, monitored 36 mice divided into three groups. By day 14, wounds treated with hemp seed oil were noticeably smaller, and healing rates were markedly higher. Key indicators such as epithelialization, granulation tissue formation, and new blood vessel growth also improved, with enhanced granulation tissue seen as early as day 3 and increased vascularization by day 21.
While these findings highlight the potential of hemp seed oil in wound management, researchers urge further clinical trials in humans before widespread use. Read the full article at The Marijuana Herald.
