Over half of IBD patients surveyed reported current cannabis use, with 63.2% saying it eased symptoms like abdominal pain, stress, and nausea. Similarly, 56.6% found CBD oil effective, with the benefits more pronounced in those with Crohn’s disease rather than ulcerative colitis. Nearly 20% of respondents said these treatments helped them reduce opioid use, and 14.5% even reported remission. Support for medical cannabis was high among both patients and non-IBD controls. The study highlights the growing acceptance of cannabis-based therapies, while emphasizing the need for more clinical research and guidance.
