Massachusetts Lawmakers Advance Cannabis Employment and Medical Expansion Bills

Massachusetts legislators are moving forward with two major cannabis reform measures aimed at expanding patient access and strengthening worker protections. One bill, sponsored by Rep. Michael Soter (R), would add post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and opioid use disorder to the list of qualifying conditions for medical cannabis, while also ensuring military veterans with VA documentation

Massachusetts legislators are moving forward with two major cannabis reform measures aimed at expanding patient access and strengthening worker protections. One bill, sponsored by Rep. Michael Soter (R), would add post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and opioid use disorder to the list of qualifying conditions for medical cannabis, while also ensuring military veterans with VA documentation could gain access. A second proposal from Rep. Michael Kushmerek (D) would prohibit employers from taking action against workers solely for testing positive for marijuana metabolites, unless clear evidence of workplace impairment exists.
