In Pennsylvania, the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission is looking at zoning rules for businesses tied to the marijuana Industry after the state Department of Health wrote regulations for medical marijuana
The ordinance is a flexible tool that can get the working motion for municipalities that are interested. As Myers-Krug from the Commission said:
“It kinda frames the conversation. We’re not going to get through all of the issues related to the medical marijuana, but in terms of land use and what the municipalities can permit and not permit, certainly can be defined through the zoning ordinance.”
It suggests creating a buffer between growers, processors and dispensaries and drug-free school zones, along with recreation centers and playgrounds.
